Rainy Day

We began our week celebrating Ellie's Birthday!
We sang our "cha-cha-cha" version of Happy Birthday
And feasted on Chocolate milk and Donuts!
Happy Birthday Ellie!

This week we continued our unit on Spring by discussing weather.  We talked about how Spring's weather can be a little bit of rain, a little bit of sun, a little bit of cold and a little bit of warm.
Since Spring gave us rain this week, we had a Rainy Day Party to help us think of fun things we can do when it rains!

We played musical chairs . . .

We played "Ring-Around-the-Rosie" . . .

We danced to fun music (our favorite activity) . . .

(Yes, Bailee changed her clothes three times, in order to find the perfect dancing skirt)

We painted . . .

We played "make-believe" (Logan was the master of all these cute puppies) . . .

And most importantly, we had hot chocolate!
 Yay for Rainy Day Parties!

After our Clipboard Walk, we painted a picture of a Spring landscape, making sure to include the characteristics of Spring we observed on our walk.

We talked about how rainbows appear after rain.  We imagined what our treasure at the end of the rainbow would be and drew a picture of it.

This week in math, we introduced the symbols for "plus" and "equal" as
 we continue learning about addition.

April is Here!

April is here - my favorite month of the year!

Here's our song for the month:
A fun song about April's Fools Day,
sung to the tune of "Row, Row, Row, your Boat".

(Even though Georgia gave us our spring really early this year,)
We started our Spring unit this week.
With clipboard and pencil in hand, we went on an observational walk
and recorded the signs of spring we discovered.
New leaves, little flowers, buds on the trees . . .
Even insects and spiders coming back out
(Kensington was a little concerned about the spider)

This week we introduced the letter 'h'.
We looked through newspapers and magazines and highlighted
all the capital and lower case (h)'s.

We continued our addition unit in math. This week we introduced word problems.
The children each had a chance to illustrate their own
addition word problems and solve it for us.

Then we practiced an addition word problem all together

For Therrific Thursday we went on a lovely walk, and played on our playground!
We LOVED it!
