Pennies, Nickels, and Dimes!

This week we read words . . .
(blending sounds is a hard concept - that's our first goal)
And we wrote words . . .
We 'stretched' out the sounds we heard and wrote them one by one, both in a large group
And individually

We even read sentences!
We added the sight words 'I' and 'see' to our list, as well as the short sound for 'i'.

We love to play the Super Star Student game to review concepts we've been working on.
The kids are the super STAR students, and I'm the HAPPY teacher - (that explains the scoring). Those kids always seem to beat me in this game though ; )

We reviewed our time unit with a fun game.
As we moved around the game board, the students had to match the time on the analogue clock with the time on the digital clock they landed on.

Our money unit continued as we talked about the value and characteristics of a nickel.
During center time we had a bank to exchange pennies and nickels, and a store to use our money in.

For our science experiment this week we observed the effects water and lemon juice can have on a penny.
We found out that the penny in the water remained unchanged, while the penny in the lemon juice became shiny as new.

For Therrific Thursday,
we worked on our fine motor skills and crafted some bead bracelets and necklaces.
Tah-Dah!!
